Hello World! Week 2 photos

I added more photos to their photo gallery. Almost 200 photos and we are only at week 2. 🙂 This week slowly we have eyes opening, the first was Hook. I took photos last night for their two week photos and tonight we have even more wide eyes. I love this part, Hello World! Next, ears will open and they will look around startled at the sound they themselves are making. Whelp (newborns) turning into puppies and this is the first start.
They are all thriving and this week will be more building upon starting to see and hear to trying to stand. They are still depending on mom to eat and eliminate, from the long ago Den days of canines. This next week will be a transition from that as well to trying out their legs. Week three to  four we start really watching for them to “escape” the whelp box. Our whelp boxes have a tiny puppy door to help them learn to use a doggie door. We surround the whelp box with an X pen but always watch carefully and turn the puppy door to the wall if we can’t watch them closely. When we have a jail break, we know it is time to start pondering the puppy play pen. A larger box with high walls gives them even more room to roam while still in a protected space.
Another first for this week will be their first nail trim as they are all “pumping” at the milk bar using their paws to push more milk. My smart puppies!
