We have been busy finalizing Jory’s litter delivery dates and registration with Jory leaving her puppies as she has weaned.
The puppies are doing great taking to kibble food easily and trying out their “bit of freedom” on each other. The puppies came in for some romp time and bath with Izzy handling it all very well after some busy time with play and kids before hand.
We noticed Izzy acts like an Auntie to the older puppies while still having a close watch on her babies while the puppies are here.
The candy bar litter played and before bath also got comfortable on the quilt before the bath. They always come back to the quilt when they become tired.
We waited and watched for Izzy’s litter to open their eyes. This week we also had the two retired girls, Libby and Belle in to help the socialization of the candy bar litter. Libby was very loving while Belle was telling them how she is the Queen and should be treated as such. This is important that the puppies are socialized with other pack members.
Today at Bonnie and Clydes two week birthdate, Hello World! Today was also a day when Izzy went to check on the puppies who we had out in the puppy play yard. At this stage the puppies want lots of love and attention, crave it and are very vocal about it. Izzy heard them and tells us she needs to go check on them.
The puppies approach slowly, but soon they were all about visiting Auntie; Butter sneaking a drink at the milk bar!
Izzy was a good sport about it and it reminds me we are all part of a pack, and the pack takes care of each other. Izzy naturally shows that with no teeth barring or attitude. She knows they are not “her pups” but also tends to them a bit before wanting to go back in and check on her newborns.
After Izzy checked on the candy bar litter it was back to her litter. And, yes, today Bonnie and Clyde opened their eyes. The first step in turning from a whelp (newborn in canine speak) to a puppy.
The Jory/Banner puppies are getting older and wiser. One more week and their brain will be fully developed. They also had kids visit this week and a few new things introduced, to keep the brains going. Like babies, even with tunnels and toys and balls the most amazing thing tonight was the cardboard kite box 🙂
They also had small sidewalk romps and said hello to three steps and various play things.
Enjoy!
