Hello from Doodle Acres! We have moved!

Hello World!

Sorry to have been so quiet and for any delays in responding back to email but we have been moving!

Been very busy as we take our doodles to their new home at “Doodle Acres”!  Between just Jeff and I we have been prepping our old house, moving to our new house, and working day jobs in between. Today I made a walkway to the desk in the office while Jeff worked the land, tractor style. He found rocks, tree stumps and other farm treasures on his first ride. He also bought me a tractor, well, a riding lawn mower but I am calling it my tractor since I am now a farmers wife. We purchased 5 acres in the hills about 25 minutes away from where we use to live. Just as we were moving the nicest family adopted our old home. So, we have been busy with that as well as getting everyone settled on the hill.

We are getting settled in between selling our “old” home and moving 15 years of life and as I unpack  I wonder why I packed some things in the first place. We also have had visits from our country neighbors; one nice old man gave me a box full of apples that I cut up for apple pies and apple butter. Digging the country life. 🙂

I have my computer and modem hooked up and now ponder where to look for my iron. 🙂 Funny the priorities of set up while moving evolves. Boxes abound, but doodle toys, bed, and thank goodness, washer and dryer are hooked up.

The first to get comfortable of course where the doodles. They have a temporary fenced area off the backyard. The own the garage for when it rains. We have 5 acres to fence so they can run which I think will be a winter project.

Our new doodle acres use to be a tree farm and we are surrounded by vineyards and have the most amazing view. Pictures will come as soon as I unpack my camera or find the phone cable to download pics from the phone. Posts will probably be slow for the next month so please bear with us.

Our new home is an old cabin, two bedroom one bath and very small with a planned remodel next year. The poor carpet is (was) white, the soil is red, and lets just say we have never been carpet people or carpet doodles. The doodles are enjoying the carpet and I think we will not be entertaining for a while. I would lay down new flooring but with a remodel this spring it just does not make sense. However, ask me again in a month. 🙂

The doodles are adjusting to country life noises. The biggest surprise is not other animal noises, but the cannons going off by the vineyards to scare birds away as it is almost harvest time.  For a little bit of time, I thought the neighbors were gun happy; but no my new neighbor says, it is just the cannons. Then there are other four legged animals out here that are full of new smells! The back yard has some trees and a small hill for the dogs to run up and down and the biggest surprise is how off the charts happy Libby seems to be; they all love it but Libby seems to have gotten a bit more spring in her step and loves the country life.

I am redoing the Journal format, one that is more “smart phone” friendly. You would think if they named them smart phones they would know better. I am always working on linking the litters to their mom, and then the growing puppy updates to the blog. I have many more updates to post; cute pictures of doodles doodling. 🙂

During this time we also have our first ever rehome; Tilly from the river litter is back with us after a brief stay on the east coast. Our phone is still connected back at the old house, but it should be transferring around November 7th to the hill with us.  More on what is new with our doodles, Tilly, and life later but I just wanted to get a quick shout out to say “Howdy from Doodle Acres”!!!
