Cinnie’s First, Belle’s Last and flyball at retirement!

Cinnie is starting to get milk, some breeders call it “bagging up” as she prepares for puppies coming. We are excited about this litter and the wonder of what it holds. As this is her first litter one of the things with the you say good bye to the very cute pink smooth tummy.  Part of coming of age but one thing that I do notice when the girls roll over for a belly rub and think ahhhh, this is the last time I will see your smooth pink belly. Thank goodness there is no vanity in dogs!

We are visiting Cinnie later tonight and planning on her vet check up and xray.  We expect her to whelp around the first of March, but she could go sooner. I am “kinda feeling” Feb. 28th. But of course, it happens when it is meant to be.

And so I added a new category as Cinnamon comes into her own. This also makes me ponder Belle, her mother who we will retire after her next litter. We don’t do tons of litters and Belle is the proud owner of Jeff’s lap and the title of “Jeff’s Girl”.

Although Belle will be retired after her next litter she will be living a great life. She loves to run close to the ground and we are thinking after talking with flyball clubs she was born to “own” the fly ball circuit. Cinnie’s sister, Kona (and another of Belle’s babies) joined a flyball team that took 2nd in state club competitions. When Kona visits the run and leap like graceful racehorses, stopping only when fully spent for a moment before doing it again. So, when a flyball competition came to the fairgrounds here, we went to see what it was about.

I made a video snippet of flyball (it jiggles, as I was laughing during filming) and the dogs are so happy and excited. The video you can barely see them, they are so fast!

They have all levels, even an “oldie but goldie” level where the older dogs move slow but are wagging all the way. Bless their hearts! And, oh, there is puppy-learning levels..so cute as they run and then go over to the other lane to visit or take the ball from their competition then go visit the watchers, then go back and jump over their hurtles. The team humans are very nice and visit with others and they seem to just love dogs, our kind of people! I am sure there is some very serious competitions in this behind the scene, but lots of love and wagging going on.

Perhaps we will have our own doodle team? How fun would that be!

Here is a snippet of what we saw, you can research more on flyball through the internet:
