Shiloh update

H Annie and All,

This is Ken; Shiloh’s getting ready for a bath; her human brother is coming home for a week and she expressed an interest in getting spiffed up for him. Let’s see . . . what are the latest developments? Shiloh’s weight, as of last week when we took her to the vet’s, was 11.4 pounds, so it looks as though she’s keeping pace with Annie and Luna. She completed her initial set of four individualized puppy lessons and did rather well; now it’s up to us to follow through. She’s got “sit” down really well, both verbally and with hand signal alone, and “down” works well when bribed with a treat. The trainer uses bits of string cheese, so that’s the treat that we generally have adopted for our own use as well. She understands the “wait” command as well, which is less formal than the “stay” which we’ll work on as time progresses. We’re working on “heel,” and she has that down pretty well also.

Shiloh’s routine is generally up, and out of her crate, between 5:00 and 6:00 for potty, and then jumping in bed with mom for another hour. She, too, likes to play in her water dish, so we generally pick it up and out of reach except for limited drink periods. Digging hasn’t been a problem, principally because we keep a close watch on her and generally keep her on a 23′ retractable leash when we walk around for exercise and potty breaks.

Maybe this weekend our son, Alex, can teach us how to download some of the pictures that we’ve taken so we can share them with you. In the meantime, we always enjoy hearing from you, and we wish you all a happy and safe holiday season!

Ken, Sandy and Shiloh
